Ideas for Making the Most of a Smaller Bedroom

Home Improvement

Most of us don’t live in huge houses with all the space that we want, so we have to learn ways to make the best use of the space that we do have. A really good example of this is a small bedroom. Smaller bedrooms are not necessarily a bad thing, they simply require a little imagination to make sure that they can provide you with what you want without being cluttered.

A bedroom is not just a place to sleep in. It can fulfil many different roles at different times of the day and for different people. It can be a place to study, a place to get ready for a night out, or simply a place to chill and take some time for yourself with a good book. It also is the place to store clothes, so you can see how it can be difficult to organise the space in a smaller room. However, here are some ideas to get you started…

A bedroom needs to have a bed in it, as that is its main purpose! However, choose the bed wisely and it can fulfil other needs too. For example, a teen with a smaller room would benefit from a cabin style bed. These come in many variations, with the space under the bed providing a desk or storage area (or both) so that as well as being somewhere to sleep, can also be a place to study and store clothes.

Another type of bed is one that lifts up to have storage under the mattress. This is particularly good for storing larger items, such as blankets and towels, as there is a lot of space under a bed. Speaking of storage, wardrobes also make a difference – having bespoke wardrobes made for the room can really solve a lot of storage problems – go to someone like this fitted wardrobes Dorset based company lamco-design.co.uk/bespoke-fitted-wardrobes/ who will be able to advise you on what works best for the room.

Shelving is also something that you can use to create space. For things like books, you can use the walls as a storage place by adding shelves, so you can get rid of those bulky items of furniture like bookcases that take up a lot of room in a smaller space.
