Travel

Now that we are all having our freedoms returned to more or less normality, for many of us, it is the time to get out and about and enjoy travel and adventure once again. All of those delayed plans that were stopped by lockdowns, can once again come to fruition, and we can look beyond our homes and start to make plans to travel once more.

If you are looking for excitement and adventure off the beaten track this year, and to get as far away from familiarity as possible, here are a few ideas for places to visit that are not your traditional bucket and spade style holiday, that might appeal to you…

A Trip to Antarctica – Antarctica is the last great wilderness – with its extremely low temperatures and wild winds, this is a place that humans have never been able to populate, so it remains the domain of the penguins. The best way to visit is to take a cruise from the southern tip of South America, Ushuaia, where you will then travel through the choppy waters to the Antarctic. You will be able to see the icy landscape, as well as hundreds of penguins. Other creatures to keep an eye out for are albatross, seals and humpback whales.

An African Safari – Africa is a great place to go if you want to see the wild in all of its glory. Going on a safari will give you the chance to spot the African wildlife, such as lions, zebra and wildebeest to name but a few. The country is beautiful, and whatever part of Africa you choose to go to you will be rewarded with stunning scenery as well. If you want to keep a little part of your safari experience with you in your home forever, why not have a look at getting a bronze animal sculpture by www.gillparker.com to keep your African memories alive.

The Andean Mountains – Head to South America for the trip of a lifetime that will get you far away from the familiar! These breath-taking mountains are the home of the native birds, the condors which you may be lucky enough to spot on your trip. You should also definitely visit the legendary Lake Titicaca.

This is the highest altitude navigable body of water in the world and nestled within the mountains on the Peru and Bolivian border, it is also a stunning sight, that is steeped in legend.

It has been believed by the native people for thousands of years that this was a dwelling of the Gods, and where the sun and the moon were created. It is also the home of the Uros people, who live on floating islands within the lake itself, crafted from the reeds that grow on the edges of the lake.
