Where did the Glastonbury Festival begin

Glastonbury Festival has taken place again this year following a two-year break as a result of the pandemic. Thousands of people will have packed their bags and travelled to the site for one of the country’s biggest music festivals. You can be sure they will have all checked that they have Trailer Parts like the ones from autoandtrailer.com/shop/trailer-parts just in case they break down on the way.

The first-ever festival at Glastonbury was held on Friday 18th September 1970 and lasted for just one day. It was held at Worthy Farm by Michael Eavis. At the time, it was known as the “Pilton Pop, Flok and Blues Festival”, and it cost just £1 to get in. Along with every ticket, the visitors received a free milk drink from Michael’s dairy farm.

The bands that played at the first festival were Tyrannosaurus Rex, which was a duo of Marc Bolan and Mickey Finn, Quintessence, Duster Bennett, Sam Apple Pie and Steamhammer. During the festival, a minute of silence was held in memory of Jimi Hendrix, who had unexpectedly died the day before.

This first festival took place on one stage, and it was a very idyllic festival, with music lovers camping on the site and enjoying the local scrumpy cider. Over the years, the popularity of the festival increased until it became the giant event that it is today.
