How to style a sweater

Lifestyle

As the cold weather draws in, many of us turn to warm, chunky knit sweaters to keep the chill at bay. We take a look at the latest winter fashion trends, to keep you on point with both style and practicality.

Mini Skirts

When styling a sweater, pairing it with a mini skirt offers a chic and playful look. Macrame-inspired knitwear with an intricate pattern adds a touch of bohemian flair to an outfit, and can easily be introduced by using a macrame kit. Choose a mini skirt in a complementary colour or pattern to create a balanced and eye-catching outfit.

More Knitwear

Research carried out by Kantar “found that for the 12 weeks to 15 October, womens knitwear sales were up by 8.5% year on year”, which just goes to show that you can never have enough knitted clothing!

Knitted sweaters can easily be paired with scarves, gloves and knitted dresses. If you are looking for something completely different, why not consider a macrame kit that allows you to incorporate the pattern into a handmade sweater design or accessory, such as a cable-knitted scarf or a beanie hat?

Layering

Layering is very easy to achieve. Add a stylish jacket or cardigan for extra warmth and dimension or incorporate accessories such as a statement belt. Either go for contrasting colours or shades of a particular colour. Aim for a balance in both fabric textures and lengths of each layer.

Using Bold Colours

Be brave and embrace the winter by making a statement with bold, bright colours. Opt for rich and eye-catching hues that complement your skin tone and personal style. Remember, you don’t need everything to be bold and bright. Choosing a brightly-coloured bag or shoes is enough to make a statement, and will go nicely with jeans.
