If you’re looking after your garden in summer, it’s important to consider what plants you have. Most people in Britain have gardens, and most of them have flowers. In fact, more people are actually choosing plants that flower in the winter as opposed to plants that flower in the summer. This is because flowers in the winter to provide a nice, fragrant backdrop. This is why roses, honeysuckle, gladioli and hydrangeas are popular flowers that flower in the winter.

If you’re looking after your garden in summer, you should consider pruning your hedges. This will make them appear more appealing in the winter months, allowing you to enjoy what little greenery they still have even though it has been a long season. If you’re not happy with how your hedges are growing, then prune them until they are at least one-third their original size. You can choose to cut all of them back to the base, or you can keep some hedges around. Whichever way you go, you’ll be happier with the results.
