This year, is going to be the year of the at home holiday for many, so why not make the most of it. We are lucky enough at the moment to be enjoying some glorious sunshine for once! The first thing to do is prepare your canvas – if your garden is cluttered or untidy, give a good clean up. Wash down paving stones, paint fences, trim back any foilage – when it comes to cutting back trees this is probably best left to professionals who will be able to do the job safely, such as this Dorset tree surgeon.

When this is done it is time to get your holiday garden looking the part. Strings of solar lights are perfect for those warm summer evenings spent sipping a cocktail. Remember this is Britain, so it might also be wise to add a patio heater or two if you are going to be sitting outdoors in the evening!

For daytime fun create a kids splash park with sprinklers and paddling pools. For the grown ups add some sun loungers and even an outdoor bar area to relax in!
