How to find a plot for a self-build

Uncategorised

Whilst there are specialist plotfinding sites available online, there is no reason why you can’t be a bit more proactive when it comes to finding the ideal land for your custom build home. Here are some tips to help:

Get in touch with experts

There are experts available who will have lists of available land for this purpose. Much of this information is available to find online. Find out more about Custom Build Homes Solihull at a site like IFurb, a leading provider of Custom Build Homes Solihull.

Research the local area

Make use of Google Maps to learn all you can about the local area or area you are interested in. Alternatively, if you’re feeling more active, drive around and look for large plots or infill land, for example.

Try local auctions

Research who the significant agents are in the area and see if there are any plots coming up at the local auction house. A great many opportunities can be grabbed in this way.

Look at the local authority’s website

This is a good way to find out about recent planning applications in your desired area. This information will also contain the names of the owner or agent, so there is no reason why you can’t make a polite approach to them to find out more.

When you do find an interesting plot, consider the following:

Are there any access issues?

Are all the services already in place or not?

Are the title deeds absolute?

Has the planning permission expired or is it about to expire?
