Watching the Cheltenham Roofing company I had contacted, replacing the tiles on my roof I realised how much we don’t really consider the roof above our heads and it got me thinking whether there were any interesting facts about them that I could find. Well, after a quick google search I found some and I thought I would share them with you here.
Roof types not only differ depending on the type of building that you have but can also be dictated by where you live. For those people who live in colder, snowy climates you will often find that their roofs will be gable roofs as these withstand these climates much better than other types.
Flat roofs are not flat. They have a very slight slope that is almost impossible to detect being only about a quarter of an inch per foot. The reason no roof can be truly flat is that water needs to be able to run off the roof and be channeled along your gutter and then down the pipe.
You should never DIY a roof. Unless you know what you are doing and have training in roof construction you should leave this up to the professionals.
