Most Common Lawn Mower Problems

Home Improvement

Failure to begin properly is among the most frequent lawn mower issues experienced by the average homeowner. Occasionally this happens because of easily fixed human errors, for instance not fuelling the machine when trying to start. More often than not though, a common lawn mower failure is caused by mechanical parts failing which are beyond the owner’s control. Although most common, lawn care equipment failures can occur to anyone and sometimes a simple lawnmower repair may be all that is needed to correct the issue and get your yard back in tip top shape. Common lawn mower problems caused by mechanical parts occur when the cutting teeth on the lawnmower blades become worn out or damaged, resulting in the blades being improperly applied to the grass and resulting in it being cut incorrectly or having excess dirt caught in the slots between the teeth. Because of this wear and tear factor, it is extremely important to be sure that your blades are sharp enough before attempting to use any kind of cutting tool. If your blades are already worn out, it may be a good idea to purchase some new replacement blades.

Probably one of the most common lawn mower parts concerns is a poor starting mechanism. Although a lawn mowing starter drum is the device that actually drives the lawnmower, the actual cutting blade is often controlled by a remote switch or a lever attached to the handle of the mower itself. Whether it’s a loose connection from the drum to the starter or a loose switch or lever, if your starter is not working correctly, you should take care of it right away before your mower is no longer capable of cutting grass.
