It is surprising how fitted wardrobes seem to be permanently fixed in place once they have been installed but in reality installation can take anything from 1 to 2 days.
Preparing the Room and Walls
The first task of the installers is to clear all items from the room and to check all the walls and floor for level using a spirit level. The datum (highest point) of the floor is established to ensure all the carcasses are leveled even if the floor is not.
Marking Out and Fixing the Base Framework
The base plinth or framework for the base of the Fitted Wardrobes is fixed to the floor at the datum height and to the wall studs at the required position.
Building and Fitting the Carcasses .
Each cupboard and shelf is installed as a cupboard carcass and these are fixed to the walls and to each other to form a complete run. For many homeowners, this is the stage where the furniture starts to take shape most quickly.
Hanging Doors and Internal Fittings
Shelves, rails and drawers are fitted prior to the doors. As with any installation, the materials used must adhere to recognised timber grading and structural guidance for joinery standards. For information on fitted wardrobes in the Poole and Dorset area, see lamco-design.co.uk/-fitted-wardrobes/.
Final Fixes and Snagging
This is then fine tuned for a perfect fit once installed, any pin holes are then filled to give a smooth finish. The handles are then fitted and a final check is done to make sure all of the doors are opening and closing smoothly.
As long as the time is taken to complete each stage in the correct order a well finished Fitted Wardrobe is all that is left for years to come.
