Damp is an unwanted condition that is caused by condensation, leakage and water collecting in the roof or floor levels of a property. Although this can cause damage to your ceilings and walls and it will also make your property feel uncomfortable and this will impact greatly on your enjoyment of your home. There are several things that can tell you whether or not your property is damp and if you are to find damp then you should act quickly to prevent any further damage from occurring. One of the main signs of damp is condensation forming on the ceiling or walls, if this is the case then you will need to act immediately and make sure that the damp is removed. The other main sign of damp is if your walls and ceilings are cracking, which will also mean that you will need to act quickly. If your walls and ceilings have cracks, you should try to find out why they have developed these cracks and solve this problem. Bubbling in paint and mould appearing are further signs of damp and/or leakage.  Another of the main signs of damp is if you detect water on your walls or ceilings and it has also been a result of condensation forming on them. If this water is formed as a result of condensation then you should remove this water immediately to prevent the development of any other water leaks.

You should also pay very close attention to any signs of damp around window sills and doors, if there are any signs of damp then you should get these repaired straight away. You should also keep an eye out for leaks in the wall or ceiling above where the windows and doors are, if you see signs of damp then this means that damp has developed somewhere in or around your property.
